Dear Dayton 100+ Women Who Care Members,
Our mission statement is simple: “While promoting patriotism, the Miami Valley Chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. (OH 3), supports our troops all over the world, our veterans, and each other.” Implementing that mission involves the dedication of many volunteers and supporters like you. Our chapter is made up of unpaid volunteer members who have created a very active agenda of programs for deployed troops and veterans which are 100% funded through donations and grants. We thank you so much for your gifts of $100 which will be used to benefit heroes, past and present. Some of our chapter activities which you are supporting:

The Blue Star Mothers need items for troops
The national organization of Blue Star Mothers of America is a nonprofit organization that’s been supporting our active duty military and veterans since World War II. The local group — Miami Valley Chapter No. 3 — is one of the largest in the United States. Members include both mothers of active-duty military or honorably and medically discharged veterans as well as many friends and associates who support the organization’s mission including schools, churches, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Veterans’ organizations and local community and business members.
The sixth grade class at St. Helen did a project based on the parable of the talents from Matthew. The teachers gave each of their students $1 from their own pockets. The students had two weeks to decide what they were going to do with the $1. They voted on a charity: The Blue Star Mothers of America Miami Valley Chapter #3. After the two weeks were up they were required to write a three paragraph report on what they chose to do with their dollar, why they chose what they did with their dollar and how they felt about the experience. 46 students in the two classes participated. There were a few who gave their dollar back but in the span of the two weeks the majority of the students raised $916.50.

Miami Valley OH #3 members setting up Pants 4 Patriots, a successful event inspired by our Parkas 4 Patriots program. Parkas 4 Patriots was partially funded by a generous Greenlight Grant from the The Dayton Foundation.
Blue Star Mothers, Miami Valley Chapter #3 is thankful to The Dayton Foundation for awarding to our organization a Greenlight Grant in the amount $2500, supported through The Lucia Lee & J. Ramsey McGregor Fund and the Scott A. Albright Charitable Fund. Additional funding was provided by William & Sally Lincoln. The Dayton Foundation’s Greenlight Grant provided major funding for the purpose of upgrading our website from an outdated platform to one based upon WordPress, along with content development and added security features including secure socket layer, allowing our website to offer online donations with secure payment protocols which will comply with new regulations. Blue Star Mothers, Miami Valley Chapter #3 is currently in the process of implementing these improvements and looks forward to fully unveiling them in the very near future. We are especially excited about being able to use these new features for registrations and online payments for our upcoming major fundraiser, Blue Star Mothers- Miami Valley Chapter OH#3’s annual Golf Tournament on June 17, 2017 at Beavercreek Golf Club. The Dayton Foundation’s generous support allows our organization to continue outreach to our local community and throughout the internet via modern methods. Our website is https://bluestarmothersdayton.com/ and our site is available, view-able and use-able while we are implementing our upgrades. Check our progress as time goes by.
